I bought a Substack newsletter in the food and cooking niche.
The newsletter will be written by my business partner and I will do the marketing and product development.
Dealflow
The deal was exclusive to a private equity community.
I connected with the seller.
After a couple of emails, we agreed on the price.
Due diligence was quick as everything fit the information that seller provided to me.
The transfer of the assets took a few days. There was a lot of accounts and some were easier to transfer than others.
Stats
I acquired the newsletter based on $90 MRR.
The email list has about 3500 subscribers.

As part of the acquisition, I got a website with 66 referring domains of which about 20 are high quality from domains with DR 30+.

I also got the major social media profiles with a following of about 3000 people and somewhat active engagement. The seller didn’t post anything on them for two months.
Plan Ahead
I plan to grow the newsletter to something more substantial.
I’ve come up with a number of quick wins that I can implement and a growth plan to take the asset to the next level.
I will do a proper case study in a few months.
